I relate to this so much. It is like a constant in my train of thought that I may do this but should be doing that and that nothing is ever good enough. All the shoulds together though really highlights that there is just too much...

After I wrote down a sampling of the shoulds I thought of more that I "should" add. It is too much! Your train of thought comment reminded me of the train of thought in the movie "Inside Out" - maybe if I try thinking about the shoulds like that train - oh there it is, hi! it will seem less intrusive?

I don’t remember that movie but I think I get what you mean. Maybe we can turn the volume down on them or yeah watch them pass by. I think it does help to know many of us feel like this and if a friend said the list to you and worried about doing it all, it’d be no, don’t be silly... life is too short what you do is enough etc and that compassion is what we **should** give to ourselves as we would a friend

Yes! The things we say to ourselves we would NEVER say to anyone else. More compassion is definitely top of the should list. Also, I highly recommend giving it a watch - it might be a little on the older side for your littles but it is one of those Disney Pixar movies that is really made for us adults. :)

This sounds so much like me, especially the wishing I was dressed before my kids get up so that I’m not racing to change out of my PJs before heading out for the bus!

I totally do the first school run in a pair of Mark’s pajama pants, sweatshirt and no bra, glasses, cup of coffee in hand...the worst is when I have to get out of the car and realize I look like that! 🤣

Ohhh I feel all of this Emily!! It’s the track that we’re fed constantly to get us to buy buy buy more and try try try harder and I fall victim to it just like you. Here’s to noticing that you are *enough* right now.
